A Moving Day

Abigail woke up this morning at 2am. She was trying to "get the spider's off" herself. Her temperature was 104.7. We took her to the ER as advised.

We've been nursing her fever all day along with her runny nose, sneezes, itchy eyes and decreased desire for food and drink. It's been a long day. Her fever returns before it's time for the next dose of rotating tylenol and motrin.

We took her to the urgent care center tonight as advised if the fever continued. They diagnosed her with the flu although she got a flu shot this year. ;/ Some strains are covered. She's on medicine to improve her symptoms.

Thank you God! This evening the weight has lifted as we see marked improvements in our little girls health. It's amazing how quickly you can gain perspective in 24 hours.

In the ER when the Dr. asked if we had any more questions or concerns before discharge we were quiet for a moment as we thought and Abigail, who hadn't spoken hardly at all up to this point, chipped in as she looked at me and asked, "Did you tell him about the bugs?" She was so upset about hallucinating that bugs were crawling on her bed and on her and she wanted to make sure we didn't leave before that issue was addressed. We were so amused by her question and concern. She's growing up on us right before our eyes and what a blessing it is to be her parents even on her sick days.

Side note, she's wearing her Bruce shirt from Finding Nemo on Ice, wearing rainbow striped pants and her Dora the Explorer Back Pack that her Daddy picked out for her when he filled her prescription. I picked up some Finding Nemo sippy cups as a treat to try to encourage her to drink more fluids and she's been carrying the shark one with her wherever she goes. I never knew I could love a little girl so much.

It's been a moving day. And speaking of moving...the Lord is answering a prayer for us that has been on our hearts for the last three months. Thank you Father for being near to us. It's been a journey but you have been beside us and faithful. We love you.

Happy & Healthy

After spending the weekend in the pediatric unit and emergency room of our local hospital, our family is happy to be home and healthy once again!

We all came down with a severe virus. It began with Jackson (5 1/2 months) and worked it's way down to me then Abigail (2 1/2 years) and finally Andy. Three of the four of us were hospitalized with the terrible bug and stress levels were high. It was heartbreaking to be in the ER getting treated knowing that my babies were in two different areas suffering without the comfort of their Mommy. Thank God for a dear husband and in-laws! Sometimes it's in the crises that you are reminded just how much you love and appreciate your family.

It was a spiritual reminder for us as well. When suffering even temporarily you can't help but appreciate all God has done and how faithful and merciful he continues to be!

Go Figure

So, as I wrote yesterday, I planned to take Abigail to the park and enjoy a sunny and beautiful day. Less than a quarter mile down the road, I heard a whimper in the back seat and looked in the rear view to see Abigail's lunch come up and out all over her and the car seat. I tried to salvage the day by cleaning her and the car seat up and progressing to the park since she seemed fine otherwise. She threw up again...and then again about every 15 min. the rest of the evening.

We think she's contracted rota virus from her swimming lesson. Daddy came home early to help care for her and we're both home today trying to mend her back to health and avoiding a trip to the ER for IV fluids. It's times like these that I am so thankful to God for blessing us with such an amazing Pediatrician. She is absolutely wonderful. I called her cell last night and this morning and when I hesitated to call her again today when Abigail couldn't tolerate the pedialyte she was calling me to check on her! We are grateful. It touches your heart to see people care about the needs of your vulnerable child.

Even passing viruses like this are enough to send me to my knees and thank the Lord for the blessing of our child and her usual good health. We are blessed beyond measure and it just takes a moment like these to remind us of how much he's protecting us from. He has a plan for each of our lives, young and old, and we never know when that plan may lead us on a road that calls us home. I am grateful to celebrate my life and the lives of all those I love every day.

I'm going to go charge my camera to get a picture of Abigail taking her nap. Even sick she is amazingly adorable to her Mommy. I don't want to forget a single moment of her life.
